Not Now, Please!

Sunny day, cool air,
Sensual bees search in ease.
This surely is distant fare,
For, you still say: Not now, please!

On the carpet of this green
Grass one hears of birds and bees;
All singles can be seen to preen,
And you with your: Not now, please!

Hand in hand all couples walk,
Romantic seas one sees.
Look here, look up, and only talk
Of anything but: Not now, please!

My saying so, invariably
Makes you look up in surprise,
In your eyes I sight a plea
That honestly to me replies:
Let me check these papers, please.
For other things: Not now, please!

The Maths Teacher

When weeks of work
have come and gone,
and holidays
are poised to dawn:
you, me, and him --
our son, that is,
in pre-dawn dim
plan 'that and this'.
Hurrah! Hurrah!
Its holidays!
We'll roam and play
for all the days.
There she comes,
I tell my son,
Count three, two, and one
to start the fun.
With sweat on brow,
chest heaving high,
she staggered in, to cry:
Test-paper sets bring I.
Our dreams, our fun,
all plans did fly.
We said as one:
Hurrah AFGJI!!
